"Implicit Bias"; perhaps you've heard of it, but what is it?
Basically, our implicit biases are thoughts and judgements. These thoughts can be in the form of immediate comparisons and these judgments can impact our decisions.
Nobody is totally free of bias, that is out of our individual control. However, how you confront these biases is within your power. Our behaviors, judgements, and attitudes should be addressed.
I present a few questions to ask yourself when addressing implicit bias:
- Why did I have that thought?
- What other judgements have I been making in my life?
- How has that impacted the people around me?
- What can I do moving forward?
I encourage you to share your thoughts.
